About Crafts Aqueduct

A Platform Built for Artisan Visibility
CraftsAQ stands as a unified platform that brings together artisans from every corner of India — many of whom live and work in remote regions, far from mainstream markets and visibility. These craftspeople carry forward generations of knowledge, techniques, and cultural identity, yet often remain unseen and unsupported. Our mission is to incubate and empower them by offering a space where their work is celebrated, valued, and connected directly to customers who appreciate authenticity.

By curating products from diverse craft clusters, we create a bridge between rural craftsmanship and urban demand. Each artisan’s story, skill, and heritage finds a home here, allowing them to sustain their livelihoods with dignity. Through training, design support, and market linkages inspired by initiatives like those of the Mon Ami Foundation, we help artisans refine their craft, adapt to contemporary aesthetics, and build confidence in their own creative potential. CraftsAQ becomes not just a marketplace, but a nurturing ecosystem where artisans grow, evolve, and thrive.

Genuine Products, Fair Pricing
Every product featured on CraftsAQ is genuinely handmade — shaped by traditional techniques, regional materials, and the lived experiences of the artisans who create them. We are committed to maintaining the integrity of these crafts by ensuring that each piece reflects true skill, time, and cultural value. Our focus on fair pricing ensures that artisans receive rightful compensation for their labour, while customers enjoy honest value and superior quality.

We believe that transparency builds trust. By bringing artisans’ work closer to customers, we highlight the craftsmanship behind each product and justify pricing that respects both the maker and the buyer.  This approach helps artisans sustain their primary source of income, encourages them to continue practicing their ancestral artforms, and prevents the erosion of traditional crafts due to financial instability. CraftsAQ stands for ethical commerce — where genuine products meet fair, responsible pricing.

Handmade & Sustainable Products
Sustainability is at the heart of CraftsAQ. Our artisans work with natural, locally sourced materials and ecofriendly processes that honour the environment. Whether it is grass weaving, crochet, papiermâché, or other indigenous crafts, each product is created with minimal environmental impact and maximum cultural value. These handmade items serve as meaningful alternatives to massproduced, nonenvironmentfriendly products that dominate the market today.

We are committed to integrating sustainable practices across the entire supply chain — from material selection and product development to packaging and final creation. Every piece carries the imprint of resilience, creativity, and responsible consumption. By choosing handmade, customers support a greener tomorrow while uplifting communities that rely on craft for their livelihood. CraftsAQ champions a future where traditional knowledge meets modern sustainability, ensuring that India’s craft legacy continues to flourish without burdening the planet.

Meet The Founders

Anurag Rana

With over three decades of experience in business skills training and product development for the rural sector and marginalized communities, Anurag Rana champions an integrated approach to sustainable growth—combining product innovation, vocational training, market access, and eco-effective processes.

Her work has empowered low-income artisans by providing design inputs and training that enable them to create products suited for contemporary markets. This journey has taken her across India—collaborating with craftspeople in Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, and Karnataka—working extensively with wool and livestock-based crafts.

Recognizing the severe funding constraints faced by artisans, Anurag founded CraftsAQ, a platform dedicated to strengthening livelihoods through skill development and market linkages. Her recent initiatives include training women in rural-urban pockets of Delhi NCR to produce vegetable-dyed crochet toys for children, alongside projects supported by the World Bank.

Anurag will play a pivotal role in Artisan Incubation, focusing on sustainable livelihoods. She holds a master’s degree in Textile Design from the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad.
